Magnum Wifi FAQ

Q: Why are we making these changes?

A: The current wireless networks are using old security protocols that are no longer secure and in some cases no security. To protect our internal systems, the new wireless uses several layers of protection including firewalls, account authentication, and access lists to only allow approved devices and people access to our systems.

Q: What is the difference between the MAGNUM and the Employee networks?

A: The MAGNUM network is just like when you are plugged into the wired network with full access to our servers. The Employee network is a network that only allows internet access and has no access to our servers.

Q: I am using one of the new networks but an app I use for work is not working now. What do I do?

A: Use the old wireless network for now and call IT.

Q: Using my laptop on the new Employee wireless I can no longer connect to the server. What should I do?

A: Use the old wireless network for now and call IT to have your laptop added to the domain.

Q: Will this affect the Case, John Deere or other customer networks?

A: No, these changes will not affect any non-Magnum wireless network.

Q: I am in a different Magnum location and I don’t see the new wireless networks. Should I connect to the old networks?

A: Yes, use the old wireless networks. Not all the Magnum locations have been converted to the new wireless yet.

Q: Why do I have to use the Magnum Guest wireless when I am a Magnum employee?

A: The new security is based on the usernames people use to log onto the Magnum network to prove they have access to our networks. If you do not have a username to sign onto a Magnum computer, you will need to use the guest network.

Q: When using the guest network is there any way to avoid having to agree to the terms?

A: If you are not using your wireless device for a work specific purpose, no. You will need to accept the terms once every 24 hours. If you are using your device for a specific work purpose, call IT and we will work with you to find a solution.
